-It is just a normal day-
Chapter 4
“It is mine!!” I screamed at 8 years old Aki. Aki and I were fighting over a Barbie doll that daddy bought back from UK. There is one for each of us, but Aki still want mine. Aki is pulling the barbie’s hand.
“No, it’s not! Daddy said we can choose which one we like. I choose this!” Aki screamed back.
“No daddy said you can choose the other three. I already choose this one! Give it back!” I said and start to use my strength to pull the doll using its leg. We were fighting when 14 years old Keira comes into the room and takes the doll from us.
“If this doll makes you fight each other, then I’m going to throw this doll because it is not worth to fight with your siblings over a doll. It’s stupid.” Keira said while looking at both of us. I look down tears started to fall.
“But Keira it is my doll. Aki is stealing my doll.” I said with a slow voice try to hold back my tears. Aki is looking at me with angry face.
“Yeah blame it all on me! Pathetic!” And she stormed out of the room. As soon Aki disappeared I begin to cry. Keira hugged me from behind.
“There there. You have done nothing wrong.” And she gives me the doll. I looked at her surprised and happy at the same time.
“I said you are right but I didn’t say I approved. It is still a bad thing to fight with your siblings let alone your own twins.” Keira holds my shoulder and look at me in the eyes
“Ami, you are better than this. Fight for something that is worth fighting for not for some stupid thing like this.” Keira holds the doll. Keira always talked with us every time we fought with each other. Keira disapproved fighting.
“Blood is thicker than water.” Keira said again. I nodded, she is right, why do I fight over a doll with Aki. It’s stupid just like Keira said. I ran to Aki and give her the doll.
“To shared” I said.
*********************************************************
“Mummy, where are you going?” 5 years old Alina asked. Keira lift Alina and support her with her body so she can faced mummy who is putting clothes into the bag. Mummy looked at Alina and kisses her on the forehead. Alina laughs but still looked at mummy for an answered. Alina knew when there is bag that’s means somebody is going somewhere.
“Mummy and daddy will go to Mount Fuji for an exploration.” mummy explains. Alina stares at mummy.
“Why?” She asked. Mummy looked at Keira and smiles. Something must be amusing for them.
“We are working dear but don’t worry we will be back next month.” mummy said to Alina and together they all walked to the front yard where Aki, me and father was playing tagged.
“Hahahaah!! Mummy you are going already?” said 11 years old me. There’s a disappointment tones in my voice. I was holding daddy’s hand and at the sight of the bag I hold his hand more tightly. Mummy smiles at us and nodded.
“We are going now but we will be back next month to celebrate Keira’s 17th birthday.” Mummy said and hugged Keira.
“You are growing into a fine lady.”Daddy said and hugged Keira. Then everyone moved together making a big group hug. After a minute we break off with a laughed.
“Take good care of the girls.” Mummy said to Keira and Keira nodded.
“I will mummy. I always do.” Keira said to mummy. Mummy then hugged and kissed each and every one of us. Her kissed was longer than usually, I still remember because Alina screamed that she is having hard time breathing.
Mummy looked at all of us and somehow I felt that mummy doesn’t want to go. Mummy just stays there looking at us without moving until daddy nudge her to get into the cab. Daddy hugged us and I know he is going to whispers the same message he always said every time they are going away.
“Blood is thicker than water and always remember that I loved you so much. Even when I died I still in here.” He said pointing to the heart and he climb into the cab. I looked at Aki, daddy’s words is different this times. Aki just shakes her head as she also doesn’t know why.
As the cabs began to move mummy pulled down the window and scream “Mummy loved you all, always!! Never forget that. Everywhere we go we always there for you.” And that voice tailed away leaving us puzzled. Why are they acting that way?
Tomorrow night we know why.
I remember that night very well. That is the night when we lost both of our worlds. The night my sisters and I know that we have to depend on no one else but our self. The night our nightmares start to begin. The night that makes the whole house screamed and the night that caused Alina to cry every night in the sleeps calling for mummy and daddy. But mummy and daddy won’t be coming back to pat Alina in her sleeps, they won’t be here to assure her they are okay. They won’t make it to Keira’s birthday. They won’t be here for Aki’s, me or Alina’s birthday. Even if they want they can’t.
My parents died in exploration in Mount Fuji. No bodies are found. The police said the snow buried their bodies thus making it difficult to recover. We don’t have a body to mourn nor body to make grave. It’s just an empty grave. Nothing is inside. We lost everything that day.
“Mr Abi has left each and every one of you RM 100 000. A house worth Rm 720, 500 is to be shared with the four sisters. The Mercedes 3 series plat number WMM 1 will be given to Miss Keira Neski. The BMW 2 series plat number WMM 2 will be given to Miss Keira Neski. The land in Banting worth RM 1 million will be given to all four sisters to share. That is the last will of Mr. Abi.” The lawyer finished reading the will.
I stay there motionless. I still can believe I have lost my world. I can’t understand why this is happening. Alina is crying and Keira is trying to cool her down. Alina been crying non-stop for the last 4 days. Ever since she knows mummy and daddy won’t be coming back. I want to cry to, I want to shout to. I miss my mummy and daddy. I miss them so much. But every time I want to cry I looked at Alina. She must be missing them more than me. As her older sister I have to stay strong. Just like Keira and Aki.
“Is there anything else?” Keira asked while holding Alina’s in her body. The lawyer looked at Keira.
“As you already know Mr. Adams are now you legal guardian. Your mother has put it out it in the paper that you four will be in the hands of Mr Adams.” He finished.
“I know. If there is nothing more, we’ll take our leave now. Thank you.” Keira rose from her seat and gestured us to walk to the door. Aki and I walk together hand in hand. Alina is asleep in Keira’s supported. When we reached the car Uncle Adams approached us.
“Is everything okay?” he asked. Keira nodded. We all climbed into the car with Keira and Uncle Adams in the front seat.
“I’ve talked with your Aunt Maria. We want you guys to move in as soon as possible. I will take care of the paper work. By the end of next week we will be in Australia. As a family. ” Said Uncle Adams. Keira stares into Uncle Adams eyes. She looked determined.
“I’m sorry uncle. I know you mean well, but I can take care of my sisters myself. Next year I will be 18 and I can be their legal guardian. Therefore uncle, we are staying here. In our own house. ” Keira said and Uncle looked at Keira like she is mad.
“Keira you need to study not babysits! And Keira, there are 3 young girl that needs loves from their mother and father, 4 including you! They need grownups.” Uncle Adams said. Keira looked us.
“Then I’ll grow up for them.” Keira said. Uncle Adams and Aunt Maria are not happy nor did they agree to let Keira taking care of us. They are few arguments in the house that makes Alina cry and me cry and Aki to stomped her feet. Uncle Adams and Aunt Maria finally give in with a couple of exceptions. One, until Keira turns 21 we will live in Australia. 2nd, Keira must enrolled in university 1st before she can be our guardian. Keira doesn’t approve but after thinking hard she said that it is the best decision for them.
When Keira finally turned 21 she takes all of us back to Malaysia. We moves back to Malaysia when Keira has finished her 1st year in university. Keira actually been accepted into one of Australia’s university but she declined. She wants to study in Malaysia so she can take us home. While studying for her doctorate she also works part times in 7-Eleven, mcdonalds, as an assistant in some company and others job she can. Keira knows how important money is. Though we are kind of lucky, because daddy had leaves us our tuition’s money. Uncle Adams also send us money every month but Keira makes sure we didn’t used all of the at once. Keira is strict with us but she makes sure we have enough. She keeps us together in the house daddy and mummy leaves us.
To keep them alive, to remember them, to revive the joyful memories we had in this sweet home.
